My main concern about any potential co-produced new DW movie *was* that it would sacrifice the Doctor's core nonviolence (which, by the way, unfortunately does not show up very well in Robert Holmes stories, stories which non-fans of the show would probably look to for guidance because they are supposed classics ). Even if Hollywood recognized the Doctor's nonviolence, would they be capable of making an interesting action-y film in which the main character never resorted to guns? It could happen. Actually, one problem is that Hollywood is very formulaic, IMHO. Most filmmakers do adopt a 'dot-to-dot' method to some extend. They have a list of stock ingrediants that they feel compelled to include. A good juicy killing, a sex scene, a chase scene.. etc. What I hope is that the makers of a Doctor Who film can pull themselves away from the paint-by-numbers scheme and keep to the spirit of the film. Sure, put sex, violence and car chases in, but if they really work in the plot, not just gratuitously. I think the more famous directors in Hollywood's history have become famous because they have done just this. They may have included the usual bits, but they've done it and made it work in the story, not just to fill a quota and 120 minutes of celluloid.
